WWE Monday Night Raw begins with Seth Rollins coming out. He says that Aleister Black is one of those who is ‘confused’ as to the situation with Rey Mysterio. Says Rey will come out here later tonight and he suspects that Mysterio will struggle to announce his own retirement. So for his sake Rollins will do him the service of handling it himself later on. Says people need to appreciate that Rey was chosen as a sacrifice for the greater good of Monday Night Raw. If that’s not legendary, what is? Calls Mysterio the greatest luchador to have ever lived. He’s transcended language and borders. But undoubtedly, Rey is a great man. In Seth’s darkest hour, Rey presented himself to him to be sacrificed for the greater good so that he could lead Raw into the future.
So in order to honor the end of Rey Mysterio’s career, he has put together a video package. It’s a pretty genuine package but of course ends with Rollins wedging his eye into the steps. We come back to see Seth clapping. He says that Mysterio is a first ballot Hall of Famer and when his time comes, it would be an honor to personally induct him. This brings out Aleister Black who furiously rushes the ring and kicks him around until Rollins powders! Black stands tall waiting for Seth to get back in the ring as we go to commercial, their match should be up next!
Aleister Black vs. Seth Rollins
Aleister takes over at the start with strikes, Seth backs into the corner to force a break. Reverses him into the corner for a shot, but Black evades him, goes for a big boot but Seth bails! Count begins. At 6, he slides back in but right back out, pulls Black to the outside but gets a roundhouse kick to the chest for his troubles! Throws Seth back into the ring but as he pursues, Seth stops him with a dropkick! Mounts him for punches, stomps him into the mat. Takes him into the corner for a big knife edge chop, pulls him out and drops him with a snap suplex! Singles out an arm and stomps it. Chops him into the ropes. Aleister with some body shots, Seth stops this with a whip, dropkick lands! Exchange of punches, Seth sends Black to the floor, suicide dive sends him hard into the barricade!
Rollins throws him into the ring, picks up and whips him to the corner. Charges, Black with a boot up, pushes him away, tries a double stomp off the second rope but Rollins avoids it, blocks a kick and tries an enziguri but Black with a waistlock, Rollins hip tosses him only to get caught with a high kick! Nice sequence there but Seth abruptly catches him with a high knee that sends him to the outside! Seth’s boys converge around Aleister and this signals Humberto Carrillo with a chair to scare them off! Commercial break.
We come back to see Seth stomping Aleister in the corner. Ref makes him let him up. Seth whips him to the ropes, dropkick but Aleister hangs onto the ropes and Seth falls to the mat! Black throws a few hands to try and get the momentum back but Seth cuts off the comeback with a Slingblade for a nearfall! Rollins with a corner clothesline, then throws him to the center of the ring. Tries a flying knee off the top but Black rolls to avoid it, series of shots, charging back elbows! Combination of kicks into a legsweep and a sliding knee, kip up! Springboard Moonsault for a nearfall!
Rollins starts pounding Black into the corner but Black explodes out with an RVD-style Inverted Drop Toe Hold Pinning Combo for 2, roundhouse kick to the head leads to a Bridging German Suplex for a nearfall! Black pulls Rollins up, waistlock, Seth escapes with a pele kick, Avada Kedavra, Falcon Arrow for a nearfall! Seth up top, wants his big Frog Splash but Black with the knees up! Black and Rollins both get up on the apron. Exchange of shots, kicks and headbutts, Seth wants a piledriver but Black blocks it, shoves him into the post! Seth collapses to the floor, Black catches him with a Triangle Moonsault! Commercial break.
We come back to see Black and Rollins fighting on the top rope, Seth knocks him to the mat, gorgeous Frog Splash! Bit of wait on the pin, nearfall! Rollins wants the Stomp, Black avoids it and tries to counter with an Arm Triangle but Seth counters with the Backlund Bomb! Rollins with the Springboard Knee but Black stops him with a high knee out of the air! Aleister setting up for the Black Mass, Murphy and Theory get on the apron but Humberto pulls them down however the numbers overwhelm him! As Black is seemingly distracted Rollins rolls him up but Black reverses into a cradle of his own for the victory!
Winner: Aleister Black
Nice little upset there!
Immediately after, Murphy and Theory rush the ring to attack Black. Carrillo attempts to make the save but there’s no dice, 3-on-2 makes for a win for the heels. Murphy and Theory force Black to watch as Rollins nails Carrillo with the Stomp. Yells in his face, says he warned him what would happen if he got in their way. Asks if he wants to be a hero? Seth says this is what happens when you want to be a hero, Murphy and Theory hold Black in place for another Stomp!
