WWE Monday Night Raw continues. We left off with Andrade and Angel Garza attacking Kevin Owens and Apollo Crews to force their US title match to go to a double DQ. After a commercial break we naturally have an impromptu tag team match already in progress.
Kevin Owens & Apollo Crews vs. Angel Garza & Andrade
To begin with the heels are in control. Andrade is battering Crews around on the mat. Hits the ropes for a basement dropkick. Crews finally escapes and makes the hot tag but Owens is stopped by a cheap shot from Angel Garza! Andrade takes him to the mat and cinches him into a Single Leg Boston Crab, working over the injured left knee! Owens kicks his way out of it. Reaches for a tag, Andrade grabs the wrist and pulls him to his feet. They exchange blow,s Owens ducks a shot, knife edge chop! Manhattan Drop, leads to a big clothesline and there’s the senton! Not making the tag now though.
Wants the Cannonball, Garza distracts him on the apron, Owens charges but Andrade with the boots up – however this leads him to the face corner for the tag. Weird psychology going on here. Crews is in the ring, Olympic Slam plants Andrade. Garza takes out Owens by clipping the leg, Andrade tries to roll up Crews off the distraction but Apollo kicks out! He hoists Andrade up into the air and hits what I guess they’re calling the Toss Powerbomb for the victory!
Winner: Apollo Crews & Kevin Owens
Faces get the win though judging from these segments I’m not sure how long Owens will still be face. It kinda appears they’ve given up on this already given how his discussion with Crews and the US title match went and then here in this one it really seems like he’s already turning back heel. It’s a shame he was a pretty likable babyface over the past year and a half but they never quite went all-in on him like it felt like they would. It seemed like we were maybe getting there after he beat Rollins at Mania but perhaps not.
Backstage, Asuka talks about her upcoming Champion vs. Champion match with Charlotte Flair. She says she is better than Charlotte, always. And she lets us know that the Empress never bows down to anyone.
