CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here with a different type of throwback spoilers. The further back the episodes go during these theme weeks, the less likely that we’ve seen them or are able to research particular events. This is one of those cases, and we’re as in the dark as many others when it comes to what we’re going to see.
In some ways, we’re jealous of those that saw these previously because we’re unable to relive these memories years later. At the same time, seeing something for the first time has its own magic, including having the buildup of knowing it’s the episode where one of daytime television’s greatest actors won an award for his performance.
In this case, the episode comes from November 15, 1991 and features Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) confessing something to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). This performance won him the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. One thing we feel it’s important to keep in mind that during this time, there were a dozen or so soap operas, making this and other wins an impressive feat.
It also helps to get us excited for the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards this Friday, June 26, at 8 p.m. on CBS, Peter has been nominated a 22nd time.
Bringing the feels
One constant this week has been the emotion. Not only have the performances been amazing, they’ve brought out the feels with the lessons each episode brought us, and we expect more of the same with this one.
Confession and marriage can be a dangerous thing, depending on what the confession entails. In this case and given Jack and Nikki were married, it could be anything from him confronting Nikki about her drinking again or professing his love for her. He may even have found someone else to ease his pain if things had grown that bad between them.
While it could be anything, CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers think he’ll either confess his love or give her an ultimatum about her drinking or some other thing. Given how the show likes to balance the good and bad storylines in each episode, the latter seems more likely given the next part we’re going to mention.
The balance in this episode may be when Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) seeks to make amends with John Abbott (Jerry Douglas). What happened between them may or may not come to light in this episode, but given their history and that of couples in general on these shows, we expect it was something fun and entertaining for us, not them.
Looks like this could be a fun one, and we’re looking forward to seeing it.
