This past week on NXT, we saw Sasha Banks & Bayley come home to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart. They would be successful with a bit of cheating, and spend a bit too long bragging afterwards. Due to that bragging, and her issues with Charlotte Flair recently, new NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai would come to the ring to kick them out. This showed that NXT is hers now, and it no longer needs them. However, Banks feels much differently.
Sasha Banks Feels She Made NXT
While speaking with BT Sport, her being taken out by Shirai would be brought up. It would also be said that Shirai has reached the same heights as Banks. “She hasn’t even touched anything that I’ve done, she wouldn’t even be in NXT if it wasn’t for me, she’s just barely getting started. She wants to claim that’s her NXT. I made NXT, she’s just paying rent.”
Given that Shirai easily laid Banks out on NXT, and is quickly taking her role as the best female wrestler in the company, it will soon be time for Banks to back up her words in the ring. If Banks isn’t going to persue Bayley and the NXT Women’s Championship anytime soon, why not take a shot at Shirai?
NXT Is Planning A Big Show For July 8th
In an attempt to counter-program against AEW’s Fyter Fest, NXT is setting up a huge card for July 8th. We already know we will see Adam Cole defend the NXT Championship in a winner takes all match against the NXT North American Champion, which could be Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano or Finn Balor after next weeks episode. Any of those will be a huge match, but we will also likely see Karrion Kross interfere. Having another match that can have a cleaner finish will be needed, and Io Shirai vs. Sasha Banks would be exactly the type of match that will help NXT get attention on that night.
Shirai needs a new challenger, and they might be waiting to do Shirai vs. Ripley, so a brief feud with a former champion would be an excellent way to bridge this gap. Is this a match you would want to see on NXT TV soon? Should Shirai go after Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley instead? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
