The show continues…
We came back from commercial to Charlotte Flair being interviewed about her match to Asuka, and while she was talking Nia Jax jumped her and slammed her injured arm in an equipment container before leaving her there when help arrived.
24/7 Championship – Akira Tozawa beat R-Truth (c) following Bobby Lashley’s interference
After the match was delayed due to chase of ninjas, we finally got what we were waiting for. Kind of.
Boddy Lashley came out led by MVP and leveled the ninjas while Tozawa hid under the ring.
After leaving Truth in the ring unconscious following a full nelson for payback after last week, Tozawa snuck out from under the ring and pinned Truth to win the 24/7 Championship
Following the match, a report on Flair’s injury was interrupted by Natalya, who has accepted the mantle of leadership just like Seth Rollins. Of course, she had an announcement but it’d wait until after her match against Live Morgan.
Liv Morgan was waiting in the ring, and Natalya came out with a surprise as Lana was in her corner.
There were a few times the match was going to be over early, but Morgan fought back and kept it interesting despite Lana being a distraction. The distraction was followed by Natalya taking out Morgan’s right leg, then slapping on a sharpshooter for the win. Afterward, she and Lana hugged and acted like besties.
The greatest of all time
Ric Flair came out to anoint Randy Orton as the greatest wrestler ever. This is going to be fun.
To start off, Flair promised that when Charlotte comes back, Nia Jax will wish she lived and worked in another environment.
He then switched to the man of the hour, Randy Orton.
He made sure to point out Orton defeated Edge and Christian and punted them into retirement. Flair said he wanted to tell Orton to his face that he’s the greatest. It’s surprising that Flair can live with himself after saying that.
Orton then talked about nostalgia being Flair showing he’s the dirtiest player in the game, and how Orton punted Christian and Edge. But the fire and desire the Orton wants to be called the Legend Killer gain, it’s cementing his legacy.
Partway through his speech, the Big Show’s music started and he came out. He promised earlier he wasn’t in the mood to be funny, so this has potential to be a fun confrontation.
Big Show promised Orton would pay for what he did to Edge and Christian, and ripped into Orton about being a parasite needing to use others to make himself better.
Orton turned it around, pointing out how the Big Show respects Flair and how Orton respects everything he did. He then called Big Show an legend, and promised he’d suffer the same fate as Edge and Christian.
Big Show wanted to face him there, but Orton rolled out of the ring and promised he’s focused and motivated and what happens next is on the Big Show.
This has the potential to be a great feud. Hope the WWE lets them run loose; they’ll give us some great matches.
