WWE Raw Women’s Championship – Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair
Asuka entered the ring before the commercial break, and Charlotte Flair came afterwards. A brief interview before hand as Flair came out of the medical room rubbing her shoulder that had tape on it to help her heal. We know the injury is in story, but the tape adds a lot of credibility to any potential injury.
Despite her injury, Flair took it to Asuka, dominating early on while Nia Jax watched from backstage.
It didn’t take Asuka long to start working on Flair’s injured shoulder with twists and then driving it into the mat.
Flair managed to turn the tables through her greater strength, and locked a figure four on Asuka’s head to choke her out before flipping her over.
Flair controlled the match through the commercial, and continued to hammer away afterwards until Asuka countered with a German suplex, then she hit Flair’s injured shoulder with a series of kicks before a Flair Big boot stopped the onslaught.
Flair counted an armbar on her injured arm byt getting to the ropes, and Asuka did the same after being hit with a spear.
Asuka countered a figure four into an Asukalock and forced Flair to tap out.
This was a great match that saw Asuka finally break her streak against the Queen, and leave Flair injured for Nia Jax to take advantage of, judging from Jax’s words about “It’d be a shame is someone kicked the Queen while she’s down.”
Edge and Orton Exchange Promos
In a pretaped interview in an empty ring, Edge countered Randy Orton’s claim at proving he’s the better wrestler. Edge’s point was they he kept getting back up until the “accidental” low blow.
Edge stated that he was disappointed he didn’t see the low blow coming and that he hadn’t done it first. There’s no doubt that Edge intends to renew their rivalry when he comes back.
He also mentioned Christian and how Orton trapped him in a corner knowing he wasn’t medically cleared to wrestle. Because of that and everything else, Edge claimed Orton woke up that part of im willing to do whatever it takes to win and climb to the top.
“You woke up the evil. You woke up the Rated R superstar. Get some sleep while you can. Randy.”
As he’s done since his return, Edge’s promo was full of intensity and emotion, displaying how it should be done.
Orton responded backstage when he was approached by pointing out what a snake does when threatened, how it’ll strike wildly, blindly to defend itself and survive.
He pointed out he would do what he has to do to defend his family, his livelihood, and them coming out of retirement threatened that for him.
Edge will be out for eight months, but he’s making it sound like he’ll be back soon. Should be interesting to see how soon he can come back, and it’s great to see the R Rated Superstar is back. Plus, how cool is it that Asuka finially beat Charlotte Flair?
