Earlier this year, Marty Scurll would be at the forefront of trying to turn the fortunes of Ring Of Honor around after a horrible 2019. He was making great moves, bringing in names like Jay White for big shows, booking a Past vs. Present show which got fans excited, and much more. However, he was also named in the Speaking Out movement, which had many questioning if they would keep him. Recent signs have pointed to him having left the company.
Brody King Cuts Promo Leaving Villain Enterprises
Without mentioning the name of his former faction, or it’s leader, Brody King has left it following a YouTube promo for the Ring Of Honor channel.
“Since day one at Ring Of Honor, I’ve heard the same things over and over and over again. Why doesn’t Brody speak, why is Brody so quiet? What’s his problem? Maybe it wasn’t my place, it wasn’t what I was hired to do. Maybe it’s to symbolize that violence speaks louder than words. I wasn’t hired to be the flashy pretty boy, I was not hired to be the inhumane monster veteran. I was hired to get the job done by any means necessary. There comes a point in every man’s life, where he sits back and washes the blood from his body, the sweat from his face and tears from his eyes and weighs his options. No more taking orders, no more being under the thumb of another. Now is the time to be heard. Throughout the course of history, one thing is clear: change comes from violence, no gods, no masters, no heroes, no villains. Just violence.”
This was a fantastic promo, and a great start to the solo run from Brody King, who has all the tools to be ROH Champion very soon. However, outside of the ‘no villains’ line, there was no mention of Marty or Villian Enterprises.
Jonathan Gresham Is The Future & Franchise Of Ring Of Honor
Gresham was already an important man for ROH. He’s been their head trainer, as well as the head of the reboot of the Women Of Honor division. Now, he might be on his way into what would have been Marty’s main event role.
He has now been called the face & franchise of ROH’s future by Taeler Hendrix, and now the technically sound veteran very well could be the man to define a new era in the history of Ring Of Honor. He’s been paying his dues for 15 years, is a trusted name backstage, and likely someone better to carve the future of ROH than Scurll.
