It was announced yesterday, but William Regal has something to say to the fans and locker room of NXT. For the last few years, he’s been the guiding force of the brand as the General Manager, being the firm authority figure an often chaotic brand needs. However, tweets from him seem to indicate he is looking to pass this torch along. Would this be the case? When Keith Lee would show up shortly after Regal, it became clear that everyone’s favorite GM is going nowhere.
Keith Lee Is Relinquishing The NXT North American Championship
Keith Lee would take some time to speak to the fans, and tell his story. He’d speak on his trainer ‘Killer’ Tim Brooks, and how he prepared him for those opportunities that came his way. He was ready for Roderick Strong, and left NXT North American Champion, and he was ready for Adam Cole, and became the NXT Champion. But, he doesn’t want to keep all the glory to himself.
Keith Lee would relinquish the NXT North American Championship, to ensure everyone gets opportunities like he did. So, his reign as double champion was short lived, but it’s for the good of the entire brand.
A Series Of Triple Threat Matches To Be Held
Now we enter William Regals announcement. Starting tonight with Roderick Strong vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Bronson Reed, with the winners going onto NXT Takeover 30, where we will see another huge ladder match for the NXT North American Championship. This is because with Lee relinquishing the North American Championship, he had a condition that as many people as possible get a chance to become champion.
A huge ladder match was what crowned the original North American Champion, and it’s one of the most praised matches in NXT history. Going back to the roots might be just what this title needs after being vacated by Lee.
Who do you think will become our next NXT North American Champion? Did Keith Lee make the right move? Should he have kept both belts? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
