After weeks of trying to get a new client, Robert Stone would have one choose him yet again. He failed to get both Rhea Ripley & Shotzi Blackheart under his banner, but Mercedes Martinez needed someone of his skill set in her corner.
Making The Save Earlier In The Night
Earlier in this episode of NXT, Robert Stone would be run over by a tank once again. Shotzi Blackheart would have beaten Aliyah with a diving senton, and she’d look to make her way to the back in her signature mini tank. However, Robert Stone’s good leg would unfortunately be in the way.
She’d drive over him, but be attacked by Mercedes Martinez. The veteran talent made her return to NXT recently, and has her eyes on the top. She has all the skills to succeed within the ring, but doesn’t have the patience to deal with contracts.
Robert Stone & Mercedes Martinez Should Get Along Well
All Martinez needs in NXT is someone to get her into big matches. She can take out any woman in the ring, she just needs to get in there and for the bell to ring. After approaching Stone & Aliyah backstage, she’d declare Stone as her manager.
She’d warn him to not overstep his reach, but also trust him to boost him to the top of NXT. He’d have Aliyah help him to his feet, and shake hands with Martinez. This is what he needed, a top level threat within NXT. Someone to take the NXT Women’s Championship. That was never going to be Aliyah, but now he has one of the most dangerous women on the roster on his brand.
While he very well could get her into an NXT Women’s Title Match with Io Shirai at NXT Takeover 30, I can’t help but feel a match with Shotzi Blackheart will come first. It’s not good to let revenge go unfufilled, and it’s a way for Stone to judge his new clients talent.
