WWE Smackdown Recap (7/17) – A Moment of Bliss; Bayley and Sasha Banks defeated Asuka and Nikki Cross

A Moment of Bliss begins with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in the ring ready to get it going, and they mentioned it being the five year anniversary of Evolution.

They talked about seeing the future, and Bliss predicted the Lakers will win the NBA championship, Matt Riddle will win the Intercontinental Championship belt, that Braun Strowman will with at Extreme Rules, and Cross thought Bliss was talking about her when she said he guest will blow the roof off on Sunday.

After calming Cross down, Bliss announced her guest was…

Bayley and Sasha Banks came out, interrupting them. Something tells me they weren’t who Bliss was talking about.

They of course took credit for building the ring and being the women’s evolution in WWE. Bayley then promised she will beat Cross, and Banks will defeat Asuka, taking control of all the women’s titles.

The mystery guest came out and it was Asuka.

Not quite the surprise it was built up for, was it?

A brawl started in the ring immediately, and Banks and Bayley were sent out of the ring and Bliss called for a referee.

Asuka and Nikki cross vs. Bayley and Sasha Banks

Asuka tagged Cross in so she could face Bayley to start, and she took control, running Bayley from corner to corner until Bayley countered and tried to tag in Banks while outside the ring.

Banks then came in legally, and kept Cross tied up so Bayley could tag in and nearly score a pinfall.

Bayley and Banks showed some great teamwork as Bayley kept the referee busy so Banks could hit with the occasional cheap shot.

Cross countered a suplex into a small package for a near pinfall, but Bayley kicked out, then locked her in a reverse chin lock.

Cross ducked under a grapple by Bayley and tagged Asuka in, and she quickly took control, taking out both Bayley and Banks before focusing on Banks.

Banks sent Asuka out of the ring with a huricaranna, then used Cross’ tactic by catching Banks in the ring arpon when she tried a baseball slide. Then Cross did the same to Bayley, and hit Bayley with a cross body.

Asuka and Cross danced on the announcer’s table as we went to commercial.

    Bayley pulls it out

WWE smackdown came back from commercial break to Banks being in control over Asuka in the ring, with Asuka kicking out of a pin attempt.

Double teams continued on Asuka as she continued to kick out of repeated pin attempts.

Banks had Asuka in a reverse chin lock, but Asuka escaped only to be run back into Bayley and Banks’ corner.

Asuka fought her way out of their corner, and nearly scored a pinfall on Bayley. Bayley hit with a knee lift and the two struggled to tag in their partners.

Banks and Cross entered the ring, and Cross ran roughshod over Banks and nearly scored a pinfall on Banks.

Cross missed a cross body off the top rop, but Cross kicked out of her pin attempt.

Outside the ring, Cross countered Bayley’s attack and used the announcing table to hit with a tornado DDT. Banks then broke up the pin attempt in the ring.

Outside the ring, Asuka took out Banks, and Bayley countered another tornado DDT by rolling up Cross and used the ropes to pin Nikki Cross.
