Big E Is Ready For His Singles Run
Big E is finally going solo in WWE, with both Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston having sustained injuries. A former NXT & Intercontinental Champion, Big E has played the role of a tag team specialist for years. However, Kingston getting hurt during the tables match at Extreme Rules is having him go solo again on very little notice.
Despite this, he’s been ready for this type of run for years now, and plans to seize the opportunity.
Big E Is Ready And Confident, Will Still Represent New Day
While speaking with Yahoo! Sports, Big E would speak on this singles run.
“This is all kind of coming out of nowhere. I feel confident that I am ready for this. The interesting thing and weird thing is we don’t have that organic response. I hope people enjoy this run, I hope it’s good and entertaining, I hope all of the people who have clamored for this for years are not disappointed.”
Kingston will only be out of action for a few weeks, but once he’s back the run of Big E doesn’t need to end. If Kingston can spend a good chunk of 2019 as WWE Champion, Big E can spend time trying to win another singles title himself, while flying the banner of The New Day.
“I always see it as I am a representative of the New Day. The same way that Kofi credited Woods and me and said that when he won it was for all of us, that’s the same feeling I have. This adds to all of our legacies because I don’t get this far, I don’t have this much without those two. I don’t even know if I am around in this company without those two.”
Should AJ Styles Be Worried?
While it’s unlikely to see Big E get a shot at WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, as he’s fending off The Fiend. However, AJ Styles is the reigning Intercontinental Champion, and that’s of course, a championship Big E has already held once.
He’s proven himself as one of the best workers in the company with many tag team classics alongside his New Day brethren. He’s an agile powerhouse, and could be able to overwhelm AJ Styles. If nothing else, we should see him have a match with Styles in the coming weeks, which could be a classic.
