CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here with our third throwback spoiler for the week.
If reports are true about Y&R returning with new episodes next week, this may be our final week of throwback spoilers, and CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers intend to make the best of it.
As luck would have it, this episode is a quirky one with enough hint of an adventure and horror movie that we’re really looking forward to it.
We don’t want to say we intend to pick it apart, but we’ll probably pick it apart.
Anyway, coming to us from April 16, 2004, this episode has a fun Stephen King-ish vibe as Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) search for a dead body.
Yep, there’s a reason we mentioned Stephen King.

The body
Like all good coming of age stories… sorry, wrong article. Ahem. Like all good adventures, things start with the simplest of desires.
Things like finding a lost treasure, a stolen item, or a dead body are great ways to grab someone’s attention.
In this case, Larry Warton (David Fralick) definitely got Sharon’s attention when he told her where he dumped Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby)’s body.
The thoughtful person he was, he tucked it away in a sewer drain near the Lakeside Bar.
It seemed simple enough a task when Nikki decided she wanted or needed to come along and the three headed out.
While following Larry’s lead, they battled their way through rats, filth, and the reek of the sewers, in what seems like an interesting homage to adventure and horror films of yesteryear.
This is something that touches CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers in the fun bone, but we have a feeling it’s going to be lacking in atmosphere. Just a hunch.
As is often the case in such an adventure, one of our heroes, in this case Nikki, faltered and contemplated turning back numerous times, but especially after getting sick once.
But Sharon urged her on, and Nikki being as suborn as she is probably would’ve done so anyway just to spite Sharon.
X marks the spot
In time they find their treasure, um, we mean body and it’s wrapped in a sheet. At this point, we’re pretty sure Nikki was grateful at getting sick earlier since the smell would’ve been horrible.
As they approached the body, the rats scurried off. We assume they do, anyway.
Then Larry stepped forward and removed the sheet to prove it was Cameron.
Sharon screamed and fainted into Nikki’s arms. Guess Nikki proved to be the better woman after all?
Sounds like a fun adventure, but not something we see too often. At least, not in the manner we’re expecting.
