The brand split between RAW & Smackdown is not expected to end anytime soon, but after a while their rosters can get awfully stale. Add in names in NXT having run out of things to do, and it makes sense why WWE likes to have regular drafts or ‘Superstar Shake Ups’. The current plan is to run the next draft in the fall.
The WWE Draft Is Scheduled For October
October is when we can expect the WWE rosters to be shifted around, but this could very well change at a moment’s notice. This is because the draft was supposed to happen in August, then September, and now October.
It makes sense they didn’t run the draft in August, as doing the draft too early could mess with the plans for Summerslam. September would have made perfect sense, but instead it’s now going to happen in October. WWE are currently throwing things at the wall to see if they’ll stick due to declining ratings.
Who Needs To Be Moved To A New Brand?
When you look at the rosters of both shows, things are fairly solid on both sides at the moment. Smackdown needs more names for their women’s divisions, and names like Shayna Baszler & the recently reformed Riott Squad would fit in well.
RAW will need more main event ready names if Drew McIntyre defeats Randy Orton at Summerslam, having beaten just about everyone. While people will groan at him getting more world title shots, King Corbin has been a reliable pick, as would veterans like Jeff Hardy & Sheamus.
NXT has acts like Dominic Dijakovic, Tomassao Ciampa, & The Undisputed Era who have all but run out of things to do on the black & gold brand. Add in new signings like Anthony Green, Leon Ruff, and performance center hopefuls like Rik Bugez & Dio Maddin needing roles on TV, and slots are needed in NXT.
The WWE Draft is always an exciting time in WWE, as you truly never know who will end up where. They rarely follow much logic, tag teams could be broken, and champions could be moved.
