Jeff Hardy stood tall and defeated Sheamus and his demons, but his celebration on WWE Smackdown last week was interrupted by resident bully King Corbin.
While it’s understandable for Corbin to be involved in so many feuds, this could be stretching things a little too thin, especially when he’s taken exception to Jeff’s “whining.”
Another issue with this is it’s eerily similar to what Jeff just went through with Sheamus, and this could wear thin for fans really quick.
The x factor in this situation was Drew Gulak, who came out and attacked Corbin during his tirade against Jeff. While it was in defense of the Charismatic Enigma, Gulak fell short of victory, but it’s only the beginning.
Possible tag team action
Jeff Hardy got his start teaming with his brother Matt Hardy to form the Hardy Boys before they split off into singles competition.
They even held the Smackdown Tag Team Championship until Jeff’s injury last year, so Jeff being in a tag team match is as natural as breathing.
And to team up with someone as talented as Gulak only adds to the excitement for us.
This is the next natural step, and given it’s how the WWE operated 99% of the time. So, we expect a tag team match of some sort. The problem is, who will team with Corbin?
Corbin has had a rotating faction since, well, forever it seems. He changes cronies like underwear. And yes, we mean that like it sounds. He is a heel, after all.
The problem is personnel are currently limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic/lockdown, so who would team with Corbin?
This depends on the plans they have for Matt Riddle and Sheamus. If it’s a match between those two, then Short G can team with Corbin in this one.
Otherwise, Corbin could be looking for another cohort, and that could be difficult. Sheamus just finished his feud with Jeff, so we doubt we’ll see him anywhere near the scene.
A simple singles match
Most likely, we think it will be a singles match between Jeff and Corbin with possible interference by Shorty G, which will bring out Gulak.
It’d be fun to see Jeff and Corbin face off, as their styles clash yet mesh so well if they’re given the chance to put on a show.
Unfortunately, we doubt they’ll have a legitimate, straight up match until SummerSlam, at which point Jeff will win and the feud will continue for another month or until Hell in a Cell.
What will happen depends on Jeff’s contract, and the length of it is something that’s been debated among fans online for months.
However long it lasts, these two will keep us entertained throughout.
