Since debuting on WWE Smackdown, Matt Riddle has faced significant challenges from AJ Styles to King Corbin, and we can add Sheamus to that list.
Any doubt that Riddle has ben pegged as the future savior of WWE can now be put to rest as he’s continuing his feud with King Corbin with a stopover with Sheamus.
A couple of weeks ago, Corbin put a king’s ransom on Riddle’s head for anyone to show him he’s not ready or wanted on the main roster.
Shorty G took Corbin up on his bounty last week when he turned heel and attacked Riddle from behind after Riddle had attacked Corbin.
Now it appears WWE Smackdown’s other resident bully is intending on stepping up to the plate as Riddle’s toughest challenge yet.
Sheamus the hired gun
While it’s unclear whether Sheamus will go after Riddle for Corbin’s bounty as he’s more likely to do it our of pure joy, but it’s a safe bet.
Plus, a little extra money never hurts.
This has potential to be an awesome feud as Sheamus has really played up his heel role against Jeff Hardy, and he’ll enjoy going after a scrappy youngster.
This also raises the question as to whether Sheamus will be joining Corbin’s new faction. He would be a powerful asset, and alongside Corbin and Shorty G, they could dominate Smackdown for quite a while.
The bonus to this is Riddle will have built in partners in Jeff Hardy and Drew Gulak, as they’ve had their recent dealings with Corbin as well.
This is assuming a lot, as Sheamus hasn’t shown much in the way of being a team player since his return, but it would be an interesting twist, and something the WWE does regularly.
Running interference
Keeping with WWE tactics, we feel Sheamus will make his presence known during a match between Riddle and Shorty G.
The reasoning for this is that it makes sense for Riddle to challenge Gable after last week, and because ignoring that would be too nonsensical.
Although, after the mess Raw was and Bruce Prichard is the Executive Producer of both shows, it wouldn’t surprise us if they skipped over Shorty G and have Sheamus attack or challenge Riddle to a match tonight.
Their thinking could be that they can always come back to Shorty G next week.
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess.
