Right now, Brock Lesnar is technically a free agent in the world of professional wrestling. His WWE deal had lapsed, and all of his merchandise was pulled from WWE Shop. This has spawned a ton of theories about Lesnar going back to the UFC, or even showing up in All Elite Wrestling. However, Chris Jericho feels that Lesnar isn’t actually a free agent.
Brock Lesnar Isn’t A Proper ‘Free Agent’
While speaking with SportsKeeda, Jericho explained why he doesn’t personally think that Brock Lesnar is a free agent in professional wrestling.
“The only reason why the rumor’s there is because somebody said “free agent”. I don’t think he’s really a free agent at all. I think it would take so much money to pry him away from Vince McMahon on Brock’s end and then for Vince to approve that…I mean, Vince has two billion dollars in the bank. What are you going to spend on Brock Lesnar that Vince isn’t going to match? And Vince and Brock have a strange love affair, to begin with.”
He would go on to expect that Lesnar will show up again in WWE when Saudi Arabia comes calling again, or by the next Wrestlemania in a huge venue.
Would Lesnar Be Worth The Price For Anyone Else?
While Lesnar is undoubtedly one of the best, and smartest professional wrestlers around, he’s a very polarizing figure. Fans are getting sick of his suplex city shitck, and his long often uneventful world title reigns. At the same time though, he made the 2020 Royal Rumble one of the most entertaining of all time, before passing the torch to Drew McIntyre at Wrestlemania.
However, he asks for a massive payout to show up, and no one but WWE would be able to afford this. If AEW brought Lesnar in for a big match with someone like Kenny Omega, it might produce a great match, but they’d probably also have to cut their roster in half to afford him for this match. You likely wouldn’t see them make their investment back, but WWE doesn’t worry about this.
