Right now, The Hurt Business are doing very nicely for themselves on Monday Night RAW. Bobby Lashley is United States Champion, and with MVP & Shelton Benjamin at his side cheering him on? That isn’t likely to change anytime soon. However, their aspirations of gold aren’t stopping at just the United States Championship.
MVP & Benjamin might go after the RAW Tag Team Championships, but two areas are very out of reach. They lack a cruiserweight to attempt to get the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, and a woman to go after the RAW Women’s Championship. While Cruiserweights might be tricky, there might be the perfect woman for the job on Monday Night RAW.
Mickie James Has History With Bobby Lashley
Having just returned to Monday Night RAW with championship aspirations, the veteran Mickie James didn’t exactly have the red carpet rolled out for her. She showed frustration about this when she’d march to the ring to challenge Asuka, only to be cut off by Natalya & Lana. Things could certainly be going more smoothly for James, and having some backup wouldn’t hurt.
This is where her past with Lashley might come in handy. During the Mixed Match Challenge, James would be the tag team partner of Bobby Lashley. They showed incredible comedic chemistry, as well as strong in-ring chemistry as a unit, something fans wanted more of as the MMC came to a close.
The Hurt Business Is Built Of Veteran Talent
Intentional or not, The Hurt Business is a very experienced faction as far as their members go. Everyone currently involved was with WWE in the 2000’s, winning gold along the way. They’re all well seasoned veterans, just like Mickie James. She’s a six time women’s champion, and surefire Hall Of Famer.
James might have slowed down in recent years, but is still every bit as good a wrestler as she was back in the day. The same can be said about MVP & Shelton Benjamin, and that alone helps her fit right into The Hurt Business.
Shelton Benjamin has also tried to recruit Mia Yim into The Hurt Business, but only if she takes Keith Lee along with her. With that seeming incredibly unlikely, Mickie James might be their ticket to adding another division’s worth of gold to their ranks.
