Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has promoted his tequila through social media and it’d be hard to miss. Like Dan Akyroyd’s vodka in the crystal skull or Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin, it felt more like a quick side cash stream for these famous celebrities. However, after actually trying some of their alcohols, you can tell a difference in quality.
The same can be said for The Rock’s Teremana tequila. I originally just thought, well, The Rock has a tequila now. However, after hearing about it from friends, I decided to go to the store and give it a try, what did I have to lose?
Right off the bat, I was surprised by the price. You can grab a bottle of Teremana for $30 USD. There’s not a bad price at all, especially for having The Rock as a marketer.
I brought it home and simply tried some over ice with a slice of orange. Nothing too fancy, or intricate, just a dash of the orange and the tequila. I was impressed. While it wasn’t anything mindblowing or different, it was good. It was pretty smooth and the hint from the orange was a nice taste.

After trying it, I went to the website to see if he did anything cooky like Akyroyd pouring his over 10,000 Herkimer Diamonds, however, other than roasting for three days, it seemed pretty straight forward. According to the Teremana website, it’s crafted in a small Mexican town, using local businesses and workers to create it.
From there, they take the agave and roast them for three days in a brick oven. From there, they extract the juices and use the left over agave gibers for organic compost in the agave fields.
After the fermentation process, Teremana is distilled in handmade copper pot stills crafted by local artisans in the area. It’s simple, to the point, and works!
Teremana contains no sugar, carbohydrates, and is certified gluten-free. It only consists of 96 calories in 1.5 oz’s and is actually, pretty good. As I said earlier though, they didn’t redesign the wheel here. It’s still tequila and tastes like tequila, though it may actually be a bit smoother than some of the other big-name brands.
If you’re a fan of tequila or have just been interested in The Rock’s, I’d recommend it 100%. You get a pretty good deal on a bottle and I think most tequila drinkers will enjoy it or prefer it.
