G1 Climax 30 Night 12 saw CHAOS members and current two-thirds of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship team wrestle one another as former two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, former five-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and G1 Climax 18 winner Hirooki Goto took on Yoshi-Hashi.
Goto came into the match with 4 points and off a victory against fellow CHAOS member the current KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder Toru Yano during G1 Climax 30 Night 10. While Yoshi-Hashi came up just short against IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Tetsuya Naito.
G1 Climax 30: Goto v Yoshi-Hashi
The partners showed respect for one another but did not take it easy during the match — both using their normal set of techniques in an attempt to win the match. While Yoshi-Hashi has no chance to advance to the G1 Climax 30 Finals, Goto needed the victory to keep his hopes alive.
The two battled one another in an even match, with Yoshi-Hashi using his Butterfly submission to nearly gain the fall over Goto. However, Goto would fight back and show the spirit that has made him a multi-time singles champion within New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW)
However, Goto would gain the fall at the 14 minutes and 12 seconds point with his GTR technique to move him to 6 points and keep Yoshi-Hashi at 2.
Goto will need to win his next three matches against former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi (October 11th), former NEVER Openweight Champion and Bullet Club member Kenta (October 14th), and former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson (October 17th) for any chance of winning B Block and advancing to the G1 Climax 30 Finals.
Yoshi-Hashi will have the opportunity to spoil the tournament for former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr on October 11th.
