G1 Climax 30 Night 11 saw former five-time NEVER Openweight Champion, two-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, and CHAOS member against former NEVER Openweight Champion and Bullet Club member Yujiro.
In five previous contests, Yujiro’s only singles victory over Ishii came on June 29, 2014 during the Kizuna Road tour in a match where he defeated Ishii for the NEVER Openweight Champion in his V5 defense of the championship.
G1 Climax 30: Ishii v Yujiro
Yujiro would win the title back from Yujiro nearly four months later at King of Pro Wrestling on October 13, 2014 in Yujiro’s V2 defense of the title, nearly six years before their G1 Climax 30 match.
While Yujiro was looking for his first two points of the tournament, and to spoil Ishii’s G1, a win for him over a former NEVER Openweight Champion, RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, and Ring of Honor (ROH) World Television Champion would bring his singles career back to life.
Ishii was coming off a victory against Suzuki-Gun member Taichi, Yujiro was coming off a loss against former NEVER Openweight Champion and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Shingo Takagi.
Yujiro was able to push Ishii, meeting the “Stone Pitbull” head-on and challenging his fighting spirit with all he had. However, Yujiro wasn’t able to deliver neither his Pimp Juice nor Tokyo Pimps technique in order to gain the fall over Ishii.
However, Ishii was able to gain the fall at the 15 minutes and 25 seconds mark with his Sheer Drop Brainbuster technique to move his G1 Climax 30 A Block points total to 6.
Ishii’s upcoming matches against former NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb (October 10th), former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and CHAOS unit mate Kazuchika Okada, and former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Switchblade” Jay White (October 16th) are key battles in determining the eventual winner of the A Block table.
