At the latest United Wrestling Network Primetime Live event, there was a very interesting title change. In a rematch from a match we previously saw on AEW Dynamite, Thunder Rosa would face Serena Deeb. The NWA Women’s Championship would be on the line this time, and Deeb would end the 277 day reign of Thunder Rosa. This has many speculating what is next for Thunder Rosa, as she likely moves on to a larger promotion full time.
Thunder Rosa Made An Impact In AEW At All Out
When it comes to AEW, Thunder Rosa is already integrated within the roster. She had four matches for the promotion in September, including a match at All Out with AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida. Every time she stepped into an AEW ring, fans had one thing on their mind, that being ‘Why haven’t they signed her yet?’
She provides a level of skill rarely seen in their division, and it one of the few AEW had at the time who could give Hikaru Shida a proper challenge in a long match. They almost certainly made her an offer, but if she was sticking with AEW, she could have remained the NWA Women’s Champion, having defended the belt on their program in the past. This is why people feel she’s going elsewhere.
Another Big Name For The NXT Women’s Division
The Women’s division in NXT only gets better by the day. Recently, Toni Storm & Ember Moon would enter the division once again, setting themselves up alongside names like Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae, Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai. It’s the strongest division in the world, and adding Thunder Rosa right into the mix would only help to make things sweeter.
WWE doesn’t feature outside championships these days, with Noam Dar not even being able to bring the ICW Heavyweight Championship in NXT UK, when WWE & ICW are partnered up. Rosa dropping the NWA Women’s Championship before joining up with WWE just makes more sense.
While many fans would rather her join up with AEW, at the end of the day, she’ll be a star wherever she goes. The level of competition is much higher in NXT, and with Rosa only being in this industry for six years, some time in the WWE Performance Center might be just what she needs to reach that next level.
