It’s been a strange year for the WWE as they’ve struggled with losing fans and the pandemic shutting things down, so Lars Sullivan’s return fits right into things.
It’s not that he’s a bad performer or doesn’t fit the physical bill the WWE and Vince McMahon craves, because he does.
He has a major anxiety problem that caused him to miss his WrestleMania debut against John Cena, and things started to fall apart from there.
The real problem came about when some of his old online comments resurfaced as well as tweets about the bosses’ daughter, Stephanie McMahon.
Even his adult film history was dredged up and when the promotion faced uncertain financial times, his future with the WWE looked bleak.
Manbeast survives
But despite the WWE releasing 40% of their roster, Lars Sullivan survived despite not being seen in NXT or the main brands.
Until on last night’s Smackdown (10/9).
He returned in glorious fashion and continued his rampage we haven’t seen in nearly a year as he laid waste, taking out Jeff Hardy, Matt Riddle, and the Miz with ease.
This is the atypical way a monster character like Sullivan is pushed, by destroying everything in their path before focusing on or being confronted by someone that won’t let the beating go unpunished.
It’s a tried and true methodology, and now Sullivan is back to his destructive ways.
The thing here is in NXT he was a highly intelligent monster that defied others the WWE has had over the years that needed someone to lead and guide them.
On the main roster, he appears to be the loose cannon most monsters but without anyone to guide him.
He has a certain unspoken charisma about him that makes us want to watch him and cheer for him to do his thing.
Of course, it may be a remnant for those of us that grew up watching WWE giants, but he has all the potential in the world.

While it appears he’s targeting Jeff Hardy (he went after Matt Hardy numerous times when Jeff was injured), it could be that Jeff is the first in a line of victims.
We’re expecting him to square off with Matt Riddle and/or Jeff Hardy over the next couple of weeks.
Riddle and Jeff aren’t the type to ignore a threat like this, so it makes sense. But there’s a problem with it if Riddle’s involved.
Since they’re trying to build Riddle into the next superstar, he’d have to defeat Sullivan, and if they’re building up Sullivan, he’ll have to defeat Riddle.
Losing would weaken both of them, but especially Sullivan.
An additional problem with this Riddle isn’t the type that can defeat or should defeat Sullivan.
He should be built up to face the bigger bulls like Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Bray Wyatt.
What’s interesting about that is fans online have been calling for Sullivan to face the Fiend.
While any of those have the potential to be great matches at some point, Sullivan needs to continue growing and wiping out his opponents until he’s virtually unbeatable, then the big matches will happen.
But first, he has to get drafted to one of the main brands, but we won’t have to wait long as he was added to the Raw superstar pool. It’ll be interesting to see what potential feud await him.
