Ashantee Adonis recently broke his losing streak on 205 Live against The Brian Kendrick, and after showing up at NXT Takeover 31? He wants to be at the top of the NXT Cruiserweight division. Tonight, he has a chance to move up in a match with Jake Atlas.
Jake Atlas Wins Quickly, Due To Legado Del Fantasma
Both men came into this match with great speed and technique, leading to an early standoff, but Adonis spent a bit of time taunting and took a dropkick. He’d hit the Air Drop in return, showing that whatever Atlas can do, he can do better. Atlas would get the better Adonis in a slugfest, but then Legado Del Fantastma would come to ringside. Adonis took them out at NXT Takeover 31, and they came to cost him, and cost them they did. Atlas wins via a quick rollup, but this one isn’t over.
Mendoza & Wilde would pull Adonis out of the ring, and Atlas dove in to make the save. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar came to back up his men, and seemingly the numbers were in their favor. Sadly for them, Swerve was in the house with some steel chairs, and with Atlas & Adonis armed, Legado Del Fantasma changed their mind on their attack
Santos Escobar Has Three Potential Opponents
While Swerve, Atlas & Adonis stood together tonight, they all have their eyes on the same prize. Swerve was a second away from winning the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at NXT Takeover 31, but Escobar proved to be too much to handle. Adonis helped to ward off Legado Del Fantasma in this match, and after one win, the cocky rookie is ready to challenge for the title in his mind. Granted, that win was over a former champion.
Finally, Atlas has found an edge after some brawls with Tommaso Ciampa, and proved his skills in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament. It feels like only a matter of time before he challenges for gold. They will likely face off with Legado Del Fantasma in a six man tag team match, but will they be able to work together against the well oiled faction?
