WWE Smackdown Results returned to the first Survivor Series qualification match of the night, and this should be a good one.
The match started with ZIggler going for Owens’ legs for a takedown as is his new style, but Owens countered it into a side headlock.
Ziggler threw Owens off the ropes, and Owens hit him with a shoulder block that forced Ziggler to roll to the floor.
Owens interrupted Ziggler’s conference with Roode, but Ziggler slipped into the ring and ambushed Owens with a handful of kicks and stomps before hitting a neckbreakers for a near pinfall.
Ziggler worked Owens’ eyes, and then hit a coupe of strikes in the corner before he racked Owens’ eyes across the ropes.
The pair exchanged blows, and Owens hit with a reverse elbow on Ziggler off the ropes.
Ziggler hit with a kick to Owens’ knee, but Owens held onto the rope so Ziggler couldn’t hit the Zigzag.
Ziggler then threw Owens to the floor and dropped to a knee. As the official checked if Ziggler was okay, Roode hit Owens from behind and then threw Owens into the ring.
The referee turned around in time to see that last part, but despite Roode pleading his case, he was banded from ringside.
Ziggler protested as we headed to commercial.
Owens pushes through
Back from commercial, the action was back in the ring with Ziggler in control with an armbar on Owens.
Owens fought out of the hold with a few rights, but Ziggler hit with another neckbreaker for a near pinfall.
Ziggler went back to working on Owens’ eyes, and then trying for a third neckbreaker.
Owens fought out of it, then hit an inverted atomic drop, a right hand, and a running senton.
Ziggler then attempted a cross body off the ropes, but Owens caught him and flipped him behind him for a Samoan Drop DDT type of move for a near pin.
Owens then climbed to the top rope, but Ziggler got his knees up to counter the senton and nearly scored a pin fall on Owens.
Ziggler warmed up the Sweet Chin Music band, but Owens caught him with a superkick and then attempted a popup powerbomb that Ziggler countered into the Famouser for a near pinfall on Owens.
Ziggler waited for Owens to get to his feet, but Owens ducked under a superkick.
Ziggler pushed Owens off when he attempted a stunner and the two exchanged pin attempts.
Owens finally hit with a stunner for the win.
This was a pretty good match that showed a good balance of old school style wrestling WWE Smackdown Results enjoys so much
Women’s division turmoil
WWE Smackdown Results returned from commercial to Adam Pearce being the focus of Natalya asking how they’re picking Survivor Series teams.
Billie Kay then handed her his resume and head shot, to which Natalya interrupted and said her career speaks for itself.
Bianca Belair came in and said since she’s the EST of WWE, it’s not a question.
She and Natalya exchanged shots over no one understanding what Beliar’s EST is supposed to mean.
Pearce said none of that will get any of them on the team as they have to win their matches to get onto the Smackdown team.
Lars Sullivan interviewed
Afterwards, Corey Graves played an interview he had with Lars Sullivan.
Graves asked if it’s okay to call him Lars, and Lars responded that’s considerate but wouldn’t he rather be called the Freak,
Sullivan then went on how he’s shunned by people for being “The Freak” but he accepted Graves’ notion of using it to refer to his freak of nature abilities.
Sullivan then explained how he’d been made fun of since he was a young kid and he didn’t know how to respond. He said he cried.
He hoped they’d stop and show sympathy, but instead, the kids and teachers all stood and laughed at him for crying.
He took a deep breath to steady his nerves and said that 20 minutes later, the laughing stopped but the screaming continued for hours and he wasn’t allowed back in school.
When asked what he hopes to accomplish in the WWE, he said he wants to unleash pain and humiliation on anyone that gets in this way.
He wants to make this world his personal playground and hell of Earth.
