Tay Conti was a quiet signing for AEW, but one that shows great future promise. She’s a rookie talent who came up through WWE NXT, and tonight’s her big showing on AEW Dynamite. The same promise can be attributed to her opponent Red Velvet, who is being courted by The Nightmare Family, and will have Brandi Rhodes in her corner. Who will climb the ranks?
Red Velvet Shows Her Skills
They’d lock up hard in the ring, Velvet getting the early upper hand and forcing Conti in the corner. Conti would get freedom, before being taken to the mat for some quick pinfall attempts. They’d exchange arm drags, before Conti just ran Velvet down.
Velvet came right back with a leg lariat and a standing moonsault, before choking Conti in the corner with a boot. The judo background of Conti would come into play with some throws, before hitting a kick to the back of the head.
Conti would hit a uranage, but collapse to the ring herself afterwards. She’d finally attempt a pinfall and get a one count. Conti would rain down elbows on Velvet, before applying a seated Full Nelson. Velvet tried for a rollup, but Conti countered into a powerbomb attempt before hitting a suplex, showing insane power.
Tay Conti Doesn’t Want To Cheat
Some rising knee strikes would hit Velvet before one was countered. Velvet tried for a crucifix, which was countered into a slam, getting Conti a two count. She’d be shocked and wait for a moment whenever something would be kicked out of, a rookie mistake.
Conti would run into the corner but miss Velvet, who dropped her with a back elbow and a wheelbarrow bulldog. Velvet hit a drop toehold to the middle rope and double knees to the spine. A step up knee into the corner and stunner got a two count, no pressure on the shoulders during the pin.
They’d both throw high kicks to the head, causing a double down. Anna Jay would slip Conti a chair, but Conti didn’t want to cheat. She’d turn into a leg lariat, and nearly be pinned. Conti dodged a boot to the head, hit the pump kick and a Gory Special into a knee strike for the win.
There was a bit of a disagreement between Conti & Jay, and she won’t be joining Dark Order this week. Will Conti join up with Dark Order eventually? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
