The December 12th date for Anthony Joshua’s return to the ring is getting ever closer, and the undercard is beginning to take shape. Joshua will come up against his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev in the main event of the show.
Joshua looks to successfully defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles ahead of a potential unification showdown with fellow Brit Tyson Fury next summer. However, to add further intrigue to the show, Tyson’s brother Hughie Fury is among the stars that have been added to the undercard for the showdown on the 12th December.
Boxing News: Hughie Fury Added To Undercard
It was revealed on Tuesday evening that Hughie will be fighting on the undercard of the event, as he looks to continue his excellent professional record. Fury has won 24 of his 27 fights. All three of his defeats have come against fighters that have challenge Joshua for the heavyweight championship. The first defeat that he suffered was against Joseph Parker in September 2017, before he was beaten by Joshua‘s opponent on the 12th December in October of the following year.
Fury’s most recent defeat was against Alexander Povetkin in August last year. However, he roared back following that defeat in his most recent fight against Pavel Sour, as he beat his Czech opponent by TKO in the third round in Manchester. However, it won’t be an easy fight for Fury at the O2 next month as he will be coming up against Mariusz Wach in a ten-round contest.
Boxing News: Tough Task For Fury
Wach will present a stern challenge for Fury in December, as he brings a wealth of experience into the fight with him. The Polish fighter has won 36 of his 42 professional fights. However, chinks in his armour have been appearing over recent years, as he has lost four of his last seven fights. The most recent of those defeats was against Dillian Whyte on the undercard of Joshua’s last fight against Andy Ruiz Jr.
There will be more heavyweight action on the undercard as Martin Bakole will be battling Sergey Kuzmin. Bakole has an excellent professional record as he has won 15 of his 16 professional fights. His only defeat came in October 2018 as he was beaten by Michael Hunter. Kuzmin has won 15 of his 17 professional fights, with his last defeat also coming against Hunter in September 2019.
