While the best Junior Heavyweights around Japan gear up for the latest edition of Best Of Super Juniors, NJPW didn’t want to leave North America hanging. They’ve been slowly building up their overseas presence, and this will continue with the latest edition of another classic tournament. We’re getting a 2020 Super J Cup.

Super J Cup 2020 Will Feature Talent From NJPW, Ring of Honor, GCW and Impact Wrestling

In the true spirit of Super J-Cup, it is not just talent from NJPW that will be involved in this tournament. A good chunk of the field is NJPW standbys in North America, seeing TJP, ACH, Clark Connors and El Phantasmo all getting involved.

We also have some free agents in the mix, with Lio Rush making his NJPW debut and Blake Christian getting into the mix as well. Chris Bey will represent Impact Wrestling, being a former X-Division champion. Finally, Rey Horus will represent Ring Of Honor. This is a stacked field, and one that will give fans one excellent night of action.

It Will Be A One Night Tournament

Despite having nearly as much talent as Best of Super Juniors, this isn’t going to be a drawn out round robin style tournament. All action will take place on one night, that being December 12th. This again, is in the tradition of the Super J Cup, with the original events in 1994 & 1995 being one night tournaments. Lately it has taken place over two or three days,

This will also be the first time the Super J-Cup takes place outside of Japan, and features no Japanese talent. We almost might see a IWGP United States Junior Heavyweight Champion crowned from this tournament, or the winner could have a future shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, Taiji Ishimori down the line.

We can reasonably assume that these men would have been involved in a bigger Best of Super Juniors event this year, before it got cut down to size. Instead, fans will get another thrilling tournament, and a diverse range of talent get to prove that they’re one of the best Junior Heavyweights in the world.

Who are you pulling for in this tournament? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
