This is one of those things that just happens in a world of digital uploads and downloads, and WWE Smackdown isn’t immune.
It’s curious that after a night where the show was the best it’s been in a long time as it finally shed the nonsensical mess it’s been (thank you, Triple H), someone appears to have made a huge mistake.
Accidental upload?
There have been numerous reports and rumors that the WWE waits 30 days to post Raw or WWE Smackdown or WWE Raw on their network because of their contracts with the Fox and USA networks respectively.
If true, it makes sense given the networks will want to get as much viewership as possible between their original airing and streaming on their own sites.
There are other streaming sites in the mix as well like Hulu and Youtube TV that have their own terms for airing the episodes.
In fact, Hulu shows WWE live programming the next day, so it could have been meant to be uploaded there instead of youtube.
So when the complete episode of last night’s WWE Smackdown (11/27) was added to the WWE Youtube channel this morning, it was as much a shock as anything they’ve done this year.
But it was taken down after garnering (as shown in the above link) shortly afterwards, but it had garnered over 4000 likes.
Plenty of ideas and theories
Given how only the WWE knows what they’re doing, it’s easy for conspiracy theories to pop up like Vince McMahon was sending a message to Fox to someone hacked their systems.
While those are possible, our belief is it was an accident that was quickly fixed, though the individual may be in some serious trouble.
It could’ve also not been geoblocked as the WWE uploads their shows for other countries.
But those are the real world theories, and as for the WWE, we fully expect them to blame it (in storyline, of course) on Retribution, or more specifically, Mustafa Ali.
The WWE is notorious for using real life events as fodder for their creative ideas, so they could work this as a way to move Retribution to WWE Smackdown since there’re practically dead on Raw.
Losing every time will have that affect as it’s impossible to take them seriously anymore.
Let’s keep in mind that Ali “took over” the WWE Twitter account a week or so ago, so it’s possible.
Whatever caused this, whether it was accidental or on purpose, we’ll probably never know, but it’s going to be a lot of fun seeing how wrestling fans take this and run with it once it become common knowledge.
