FTR can no longer call themselves the best tag team in the world after losing to The Young Bucks. However, if they could somehow become two time AEW World Tag Team Champions, they’d have a serious case at regaining that moniker. Some time away after their loss would have fans wondering of their future, but now they are back in the mix.

They’ve picked a strong up and coming team for this match, one who calls back to the days of The Hollywood Blondes. Griff Garrison is no Stone Cold, but Brian Pillman Jr. is proving to be every bit as good as his dad. Now called the Varsity Blondes, they look to get their biggest win yet in AEW, but come into this match with a respectable 4-6 record. FTR on the other hand has a 12-1 record.

Pillman & Garrison Will Be Great Someday

Pillman would start with Wheeler, and be sent to the mat with ease twice before Wheeler grabbed a fistful of hair. Harwood came in and started with his deadly strikes before a snap suplex. FTR would try to double team Pillman, but a springboard crossbody took out both men, a dropkick took Harwood out and tagged in Garrison.

Garrison set up the neckbreaker leg drop combo, which got a one count. Blondes had the control until Pillman missed a second dive, Harwood was tagged in and dropped stomach first onto the top rope with a double suplex. Through the commercial break, Pillman was isolated by FTR, who nearly became the team to end a match during a commercial break.

    FTR Say Goodnight

Coming back in, Pillman was hung up to dry on the apron, being pulled in for a powerbomb from Harwood. He’d be taken outside for a beatdown, but managed to send Wheeler back in and hit Air Pillman, and tag in Garrison. Garrison would use his power to throw big strikes, and showed his agility as he flew into the corner on both members of FTR and got the double spear.

Pillman was tagged back in, but missed the Air Pillman and hit with a brainbuster. Goodnight Express later, and it’s done. Will FTR reclaim their AEW Tag Team Championships? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
