Impact Wrestling Preview has enjoyed watching Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts division become one of, if not the best women’s division in professional wrestling.
For us, they are the top and that’s due to the influx of talent over the last several months but also the Knockouts’ desire to put on a great match and not focus on being eye candy while doing so.
It’s a nice chance of pace and is a great example of what a women’s division can and should be, and it’s only getting better.
Tonight, the Knockouts take their place as the Knockout of the Year will be announced.

Knockout of the Year
Like the other divisions and promotions in general, the Knockouts were hindered by the pandemic and lockdowns, which resulted in limited travel for many, but they continued to push forward.
Jordynn Grace began the year by defeating Taya Valkyrie’s record setting reign as Knockout Champion and began a long reign of her own that lasted for 182 days.
While it’s fair to point out much of Grace’s reign occurred during the lockdowns, she continued to compete and defended the championship when she was able to while the company added talent.
One of those acquisitions was Deonna Purrazzo, who returned to the promotion after a hiatus where she worked for other companies and further honed her skills.
Shortly after arriving, she began attacking Grace and eventually defeated her by submission to win the Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary.
While Purrazzo’s first reign was short after she lost to Su Yung, she then won the title back in a rematch and has held onto it since while feuding with Su Yung, Rosemary, and maybe Valkyrie, depending on her contract status.
With all of this being said, we’re going with Grace as our pick as she’s showed good versatility by also challenging for the X-Division Championship, but this is one where either can walk away with the title.
To Impact Wrestling Preview, they’re both equally worthy of this award, so for us there really isn’t a loser.
We do want to add that we think that for storyline purposes, Purrazzo would be the better choice to give her one more thing to use to promote herself as being the best, but that feels petty to do so.
Possible runner ups
What makes this field difficult beyond Grace and Purrazzo is there are plenty that had made a mark like Kiera Hogan, Tasha Steelz, Valkyrie, and Rosemary among others, but they’re mainly tag teams.
While that’s a great thing, it may drop them from serious consideration as the Knockouts Tag Team Championship is only now being activated, and it’s difficult to separate one team member from another.
Especially when they work so fluidly together.
