Moments After The Beginning Of The November 28, 2020 World Tag League 2020 Match Between Hiroshi Tanahashi And Toa Henare Against Bad Luck Fale And Chase Owens via New Japan Pro Wrestling

On November 28th New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) from the Fujisawa City Akibadai Cultural Gymnasium in Niigata, Japan in Kanagawa, Japan in front of 1,051 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was lively throughout, providing a great atmosphere.

The second series match of the event saw HenarAce (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) and Bullet Club members Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens. HenarAce came into the match after defeating Bullet Club members Evil/Yujiro on November 24th, while Fale/Owens defeated former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and WTL 2019 winners FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay) on the same night.

Both teams came into the match with only one win, yet it didn’t keep them from competing extremely hard against one another. Henare, who had regained his form after his extended layoff from in-ring action and Tanahashi who was dealing with a pained knee managed to carry out their strategy.

However, the Bullet Club team managed to make everything difficult for HenarAce despite their form. Fale/Owens built on the experience they gained during WTL 2019 and were able to pull out a key victory for the team.

Fale gained the fall over Henare at the 10 minutes and 35 seconds mark after he and Owens used their Grenade Launcher technique on Henare. The win moved Fale/Owens to (2-4) [4 points]. The loss dropped HenarAce to (1-5) [2 points].

Fale/Owens went on to face the CHAOS tandem of two-thirds of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Hirooki Goto and Yoshi-Hashi at the next NJPW WTL 2020 event on November 30th, while HenarAce faced the other CHAOS team of former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano.

Fale/Owens finding their form may have come too late in the tournament, but they have proven to be a team that can pick up big victories on their best day.
