When it comes to factions in the history of ROH, The Kingdom was certainly one of them. Long dead now, it’s members are still linked, and that brings us to this match tonight. Mike Bennett is back in ROH after 5 years, and has come to the aid of Matt Taven, and he will make his return to the ring taking on Vincent.
These are men who have broken bread together, shared many miles down the road, and Bennett just wants to see for himself if there is anything left of the Vinny he knew inside. Will he find his old friend within The Horror King?
Vincent Shows No Respect
No code of honor here, but Vincent would linger in the ropes and play some mind games. He’d get in the head of Bennett early, before putting heavy boots to him in the corner. Vincent kept the pressure on, but Bennett was ready to throw strikes of his own.
A slugfest broke out, and Bennett won with a big lariat. No one expected crisp pure wrestling in this match, with the first wrestling move of the match being a cutter onto the apron, Bennett being driven down hard. A backdrop driver on the outside would punish him more, before being shoved into the ring for REDRUM.
Bennett would roll out of the way, and be ready to throw more strikes. He’d be seemingly shut down with a German Suplex, before popping back up for a crisp superkick. This was followed up with the Death Valley Driver, but he was slow to apply the pinfall.
Vincent was back to the advantage first, and would try for Sliced Bread No. 2 but failed. Instead, he’d beat Bennett down more, and hit the Side Effect before doing a light pinfall, just to see where the match was at, getting a two count. Bennett was struggling and took a slap to the face, before Vincent said he’s a failure just like Taven.
Mike Bennett Gets Mauled
He’d come back with an exploder suplex, then another superkick for a two count. Vincent was set up for the package stunner in the corner, but shoved Bennett off and dove into a front chokehold, before being slammed into the corner.
Bennettt narrowly dodged Samhain and tried for a spear, before being countered into a choke once again. He’d be trapped in the middle of the ring, and only was able to narrowly fight out and hit the brainbuster. They’d get to their knees and throw strikes, fighting back to their feet.
Vincent went for a side russian leg-sweep, but Bennett nailed the lariat. The spear would be attempted again, and this time hit but Bennett couldn’t get the piledriver. Vincent shoved him into the corner and mauled Bennett, ignoring the referee and getting DQ’d.
This issue is far from over, the brawl continuing after the match and through the break. Taven made the save, and Bateman attacked him as well. Will it be Vincent & Bateman vs. Bennett & Taven at Final Battle? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
