Snoop Dogg To Appear For AEW In January, WWE Is Not Impressed

With All Elite Wrestling (AEW) running so few PPV events over the course of the year, they have more leeway on simply making episodes of Dynamite huge. Earlier this year we had the two week Bash at the Beach, then Fyter Fest and Fight for The Fallen. Winter Is Coming was the latest big episode, and more are coming. Included in the upcoming calendar for AEW is a show hosted by hip hop icon, Snoop Dogg. This comes on January 6th, and he will be there to help promote ‘The Go-Big Show’. Cody Rhodes & Shaq are also involved with ‘The Go-Big Show’.

This would already be big news. Snoop might not be as big a star as he once was, but remains a hot commodity. What makes this news interesting is that Snoop Dogg has had a steady presence in WWE in the last few years. He was inducted into the celebrity wing of the Hall Of Fame in 2016, would sing his cousin Sasha Banks down to the ring at Wrestlemania 31 ahead of her match with Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch, and does vocals for her current theme song. Most recently, he had a set of shirts adorning him & The Undertaker.

WWE Might Not Work With Snoop Dogg After This

It was noted by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio that people within WWE are not impressed with Snoop Dogg here. This lines up with some previous reactions from WWE, who stopped working with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes after they showed up on Dynamite. Smith & Mewes were going to appear on the Smackdown Live reboot on Fox to promote ‘Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back’, but WWE cancelled after seeing them on the debut episode of AEW Dynamite.

This also extends to people who have been used very deeply in WWE like Vickie Guerrerro, who after being on commentary one night on AEW Dark, was no longer hearing back from WWE when asking for podcast guests. They simply have a pattern of very petty behaviour when it comes to people showing up on AEW programming. This could continue with Snoop Dogg, but in this situation WWE has a lot more to lose.

Snoop Dogg doesn’t need WWE, he doesn’t need AEW either. He won’t lose sleep over having heat backstage from WWE, when in the past he’s had heat with people literally trying to kill him. The only person who might lose here is Sasha Banks, who might need a change of theme song to remove Dogg from it.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
