Hello and welcome to 2021’s first WWE Smackdown Results!
We’re hoping the show will continue to improve and it looks like it’s possible with a couple of great matches tonight and the return of Seth Rollins.
Will he still be the Messiah or will he turn face? Plus, we can’t forget about Roman Reigns making a special request of WWE management.
Let’s get to the action.
The show opened with a placard in memory of Jon Huber (Luke Harper, Brodie Lee) before the opening segment began.
The show itself opened with a recap of Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens (with Jey Uso’s aid of course) in a steel cage for the Universal Championship.
Once it was complete and we were officially welcomed to WWE Smackdown by Michael Cole, Roman Reigns came out to the ring with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso.
Reigns started it off by saying as the face of WWE, “Happy New Year.”
He went on about 2020 being a tough year, but as the head of the table and tribal chief, he made it work.
He asked Jey why he wears the gold glove, and then answered saying everything he touches turns to greatness. He claimed he saved Paul Heyman from the scrapheap and said he’s the most honest man he’s ever dealt with.
Owens won’t go away
Reigns then said Jey is an example of what he can do, and he told Jey he told him just think like he does and he had the best year of his career.
Reigns said he can do this because he knows who Jey is since day one. To everyone else, they wondered which Uso Jey is, but he knew. He said Jey knocked it out of the park every time and that’s why he loves him.
And this is where Kevin Owens came out. Reigns told them to turn off his music and told Owens no one wants to see him and he’s a roach that won’t go away.
He told him he was a social media sweetheart for a few weeks and hopes Owens invested his payday well and told him to leave.
Reigns said it’s not about him tonight, but about Jey and their family. He told Owens no one cares about him and he’s being selfish.
Owens said him standing there should be embarrassing to Reigns because the fact he’s standing there shows how he and his family failed to end him and his career.
He added that he should be embarrassed because Jey pulled him off the ladder and handcuffed him to the cage so Reigns can win.
He said the Big Dog is gone and he’s now nothing more than a b—-.
Owens then said he’s not there to fight Reigns, but Jey and promised he’ll pay because of his cousin.
Owens said he will tell whoever he has to that he will fight Jey Uso and Reigns’ family will have nothing to celebrate.
WWE Smackdown Results think Reigns or another family member will interfere.
