WWE Smackdown Results came back as Daniel Bryan headed to the ring, stopping to laugh at Zayn’s protest against justice being served on him. Er, injustice? Nah, justice is the right word.
Bryan started off by mentioning the Royal Rumble match, and how it sends a chill down his spine and the hair on his arms rise.
He said it’s the uncertainty of knowing what number they’ll draw, and not knowing who’s coming out next.
It’s the exhilaration of competing against 29 other superstars and said it makes him feel alive as it’s worth it. The winner gets to face the champion of their choosing at WrestleMania.
He added that he’s proud of his career and he’s accomplished a lot, but he’s never won a Royal Rumble match.
He was interrupted by Cesaro as he came out and said he thought he beat some sense into Bryan last week.
He appreciated Bryan explaining the rules, but he could do it better and in five different languages.
He paused to tell Zayn nobody wants to hear him.
Cesaro told Bryan that he’s winning the Royal Rumble, not Bryan, and cited him being the first Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Bryan offered to fight Cesaro right then and there, and Cesaro said no. He said he’s sick and tired of proving himself every week.
He already beat Bryan and issued an open challenge to anyone that’s declared for the Royal Rumble to face him.
Dolph Ziggler came out seemingly to accept and said he’s in the second most Royal Rumbles ever and his stamina is unmatched.
He said aside from Robert Roode, no one can go toe to toe with him except Cesaro. He said he wants to win the Rumble to go to WrestleMania to get paid and accepted Cesaro’s challenge.
Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler
Daniel Bryan joined the commentary team as the match was already underway with Ziggler in control and going for a pin.
Cesaro kicked out and reversed the attempt but Ziggler kicked out.
Cesaro then attempted a gut wrench suplex but Ziggler held on and reversed it into an armbar pin combination that Cesaro reversed for his own pin attempt.
Ziggler made it to the ropes to break the hold, then he hit Cesaro with a reverse elbow and jumped on his back with a sleeper hold.
Cesaro slammed Ziggler into the corner an then hit a running forearm before going for his prolonged swing that made us dizzy and went for a pin.
Cesaro measured Ziggler for a spear but Ziggler sidestepped and Cesaro hit the ring post. Ziggler rolled him up for a near pinfall.
Ziggler then hit a sunset flip, and they reversed it back and forth, as well as other pinning combinations.
Cessaro caught Ziggler’s superkick, and Ziggler countered his uppercut into a backslide, which Cesaro countered into an attempted clothesline that Ziggler ducked and then hit a Zig Zag for a pin attempt.
Ziggler tried another sleeper hold, but Cesaro turned it around and powered Ziggler up, but Ziggler hit with a knee.
Ziggler went for a Famouser but Cesaro countered it into a Neutralizer for the win.
