WWE Smackdown Results returned as Pearce and Deville talked about different matchups when Heyman came up.
Deville walked away from Heyman, and then Heyman said he likes Pearce and appeared to be apologetic.
He said he was concerned what Reigns would do to him, and he holds Pearce to a high esteem. He went on to prop up Pearce’s accomplishments and how he wanted to be the WWE champion and not his current position.
Heyman said he was instructed to pull the right strings and Pearce is now in the gauntlet match and can pursue the dream he’s had since he was a kid, courtesy of Roman Reigns.
Yeah, this won’t be to send a message to Pearce at all, right?
Billie Kay makes her pitch
Billie Kay approached the Riott Squad backstage and said it’s the perfect time to make it a real squad instead of a duo, and they declined her pitch.
So Kay started crying saying that 2012 was going to be a better year, and when Liv Morgan said it’s not that they don’t like her, she stopped crying and added herself to the group.
Riott and Morgan were beside themselves afterwards. This should be a fun one.
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Rey Mysterio w/Dominik Mysterio vs. Sami Zayn
The first two start it off, and as one loses they are replaced by another wrestler. Rey Mysterio w/Domninik Mysterio started it off against Sami Zayn.
Zayn came out asking for a moment to speak his piece, and that when he first heard about this match he demanded he be added to it.
He was surprised they put him into it, but he wasn’t surprised to be the number one entrant (despite being number two), and went on a rant about it being a massive conspiracy targeting him.
He even had a camera crew with him to document the conspiracy that’s present and cost him the Intercontinental Championship.
He claimed he remains the champion of the people and we’ll all see that when the documentary is complete. He then promised he’s undeniable and till beat everyone that comes out.
Rey hit a double dropkick and hit a 619, followed by a frog splash for the win. WWE Smackdown Results enjoyed this a little too much perhaps.
Shinsuke Nakamura was next.
