At Royal Rumble, international music superstar Bad Bunny was brought in to perform his song, Booker T for the event. This was accompanied by Booker T himself being present, in his old G.I Bro gear, making many feel like Booker would have been involved with the Rumble match. Adding fuel to the fire, The Miz & John Morrison butted heads with Bad Bunny, and Miz even smashed the DJ set-up from the performance on his way into the rumble match.
Booker T wasn’t in the match, but former NXT North American Champion Damien Priest was, and he’d eliminate both Miz & Morrison before Bad Bunny dove off the top rope onto them. Next night on RAW, Damien Priest defeated The Miz, with Bad Bunny showing up once again. This isn’t the end of this feud, as he has been training at the WWE Performance Center for a future match, likely at Wrestlemania.
Bad Bunny Is The Biggest Star WWE Has Worked With In Years
While Bad Bunny might not be a household name with a lot of WWE fans, he was the most streamed artist on Spotify in 2020, a year where people were stuck home and listening to a LOT of music. His presence in WWE is able to give them the mainstream crossover attention they have been wanting for years, while also helping to build their fanbase in Latin America.
Now, imagine the hype that WWE would get by having Bad Bunny make his proper professional wrestling debut at Wrestlemania 37? It could potentially boost the numbers on the show, and lets Bunny get involved in an industry he’s clearly passionate about. That’s without mentioning how big this can be for Damien Priest.
Damien Priest Might Live Forever With A Match Like This
The entire character of Damien Priest is a man who wants his name up in lights, and to go down in the history books. He’s done a fine job of this during his time in NXT, and he’s certain to become a fast favorite on Monday Night RAW with his cool look, incredible combo of agility and power.
Now placing him next to a bonafide superstar like Bad Bunny? That will just help WWE push focus onto him, and cement him as a main event draw for the company, and not a moment too soon. Priest is 39 years old, and while he’s clearly in incredible shape, WWE needs to push him now or never if they want him as a top star during his prime.
This potential Wrestlemania match would go a long way for WWE gaining some mainstream hype, and for Damien Priest to get the spotlight.
