As if NXT UK gaining the legendary Meiko Satomura wasn’t enough, they have just signed one of the fastest up and coming female wrestlers in the world today. Somewhere, former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne got a chill down his spine as Mille McKenzie was signed to a WWE contract.
McKenzie & Dunne were a tag team on the UK indies known as the Brusiermates, with Dunne being the grumpy older brother while she was a goofy little sister, but both could kick your ass into next Sunday. Now, McKenzie joins Dunne in WWE, and is ready to take the NXT Women’s Division by storm.
Millie McKenzie Set To Be Placed As A Top Star
Right now in NXT UK, the group at the top of the women’s division is rock solid. You have champion Kay Lee Ray, the legendary Meiko Satomura, and standouts like Jinny & Piper Niven. Add in talented ladies like Aoife Valkyrie, Nina Samuels & Isla Dawn, and it’s hard to figure out where someone like Millie McKenzie will fit in.
However, reports indicate that she is set to be placed as a focal part in the brand, due to her combo of youth and natural talent. Just like how Satomura is getting a title shot after one match on the brand, McKenzie is expected to have a similarly rapid rise. Meiko also had a hand in training McKenzie, and McKenzie spent time in the Sendai Girls promotion over in Japan. It’s likely not much of a coincidence they signed around the same time.
A Debut Held Off By Travis Banks Being Formerly In NXT UK?
Due to her being one of the best in the world today, and her connection to Pete Dunne, it was a surprise that McKenzie didn’t sign to NXT UK sooner. However, one reason for this might have been that Travis Banks was in NXT UK until McKenzie spoke up about the abuse she suffered at his hands. Banks was let go soon after these allegations, alongside El Ligero who was in a similar boat at the time.
Now with Banks gone, and one of her mentors in, someone like McKenzie can join the NXT UK brand without having to deal with someone who made her life hell, and let’s be honest? She’s an upgrade to the roster over Banks anyways.
