Things have not been going as planned for Piper Niven after the restart of NXT UK. She failed to capture the NXT UK Women’s Championship despite having two shots at Kay Lee Ray, first due to her lack of killer instinct, and second due to interference from Jinny. She started 2021 by losing a number one contenders match to Jinny as well. Tonight, Niven looks to get back on track as she faces the “French Hope” Amale.
Amale Needs A Big Win
While a win here for Niven would get her back on track, a win here for Amale would be the biggest in her career. Amale has a chance to get into the title conversation by knocking off someone like Niven. Niven would get some trash talk and a slap across the face to start this match, which just fired the scottish powerhouse up. She’d nail some back elbows, and a big hip toss before hitting the low crossbody block.
Amale would be stomped into the corner, as Joseph Conners made his way down to ringside. Conners is linked with Jinny at this point, and considering Jinny & Niven’s recent history, is not here by mistake. Niven got distracted, and Amale attacked from behind. She’s maul Niven with strikes in the corner, tripping the leg and nail the pump kick, but only getting a near fall.
Piper Niven Looks Forward To Her Next Challenge
Niven fought back into this one and avoided the exploder suplex, nailing a headbutt. Amale was sent into the corner for the Cannonball Senton, and dropped with the Piper Driver, ending this match. Niven would stare Conners in the eyes as she pinned Amale. It’s clear she’s not finished with Jinny, and would yell “Where is she?” to Conners after the match was done.
Conners had no answers, but the path is clear. We’ve going to see another match between Niven & Jinny in time, and with how powerful Niven is, she might even be down to drop Conners if needed. She’s found her killer instinct, and Jinny is going to find that out very soon.
