WWE go as far as to nearly never mention AEW even exist, so don’t go out of their way to take shots at AEW. AEW are the complete opposite and love to shoot at WWE on nearly every occasion. It started with Cody Rhodes doing basically a spoof of Triple H’s entrance near the beginning of AEW.
Now it feels like nearly every single member of the Elite has had their dig at some point. Then there’s every ex-WWE employee getting a dig at their past employer. Being in the wrestling news business ourselves, they do give them a lot of ammunition.
What was the shoot?
In recent reports, it was mentioned that Vince McMahon has banned leg slapping in matches. If you don’t know, leg slapping is when a wrestler slaps their leg when they pull off a move to simulate more impact.
An excellent example of this would be the Super Kick. So it does make sense that the shoot was done by the Young Bucks, the creator of SuperKick Party and also Christopher Daniels of SCU and Matt Hardy.
Christopher Daniels made a joke where Matt Jackson slapped his leg in laughter. After this, Matt Hardy entered and pointed to a sign that bans leg slapping when laughing. Matt from the Young Bucks then had to pay a $500 fine. This is one of the many shoots that AEW have done about WWE, and we will most likely see a lot more.
Is Matt Hardy AEW’s embodiment of WWE?
The one person that is now in the middle of most of these jokes is Matt Hardy. Who seems to be taking the role of Vince in most of these segments. Making it feel like when these segments do rise, it’s Matt Hardy playing the role of WWE.
It is very likely that we see him in these segments again in the future. Matt Hardy also mentions the third party partnership in nearly every BTE. This was coming from the fact that WWE takes the earnings from any of their third party companies.
