As this was written, the WWE hadn’t yet announced a card for tonight and the only promoted segment is Roman Reigns and Edge gearing up for WrestleMania but WWE Smackdown Preview expects more.
Given how Daniel Bryan has recently been pushed and repeatedly cheated in his quest for the Universal Championship, we can’t imagine Edge and Reigns going ahead as expected.
Fans across the internet have the same thought that we’ll see on out of a probably three (yes, three) triple threat matches for championships on the Grandest Stage.
This storyline makes sense as anything less would fell like a major letdown.
Plus, the WWE has made a living off of gimmick matches in recent months and given how the two main events at last year’s WrestleMania paralleled each other to a T, it’d fit to have triple threat matches.
In this case, Bryan would definitely add more to the mix than a one on one. Especially since Jey Uso will undoubtedly interfere as usual.
Boiling over
But first, we’ll have some more building between Edge and Reigns tonight as Edge will be intent on seeing Reigns’ reign end.
They’ll have their customary confrontation as they’ll recap what happened at WWE Fastlane and will be interrupted by Bryan.
Neither one will be happy to see Bryan, but like Kevin Owens, Reigns has yet to defeat Bryan himself and that’ll be a point of contention.
We think Bryan will either challenge them to a triple threat there, or Edge for the right to face Reigns at WrestleMania.
That latter feels more likely, but we doubt Edge will agree to it and Bryan will resort to calling into question his pride as well as tossing an insult toward Reigns.
Edge won’t bite but he’ll still agree, if that makes any sense. He’ll agree to a match to finally shut Bryan up, and if it’s tonight or next week, we expect Jey to interfere and the triple threat will then be made.
Of course, there’s the possibility that Bryan will just walk away because the resolution to storylines has been as big a problem for the WWE as consistency.
It feels wrong that he would or that he’d settle for a match to prove he’s worthy to face Reigns again, but anything’s possible and WWE Smackdown Preview are curious to see what they have planned for us.
