When it comes to AEW, their tag team division is overflowing with talent, with some older seasoned teams like Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian of SCU, and fresh faces to the industry like Darius & Dante Martin of Top Flight. It’s hard to get every TV time, but that isn’t why we won’t be seeing Top Flight in action on Dynamite, Dark, or even Dark Elevation for almost a year. That will be because of an ACL injury to Darius Martin.
Darius Martin Has Been Out Of Action Since Before AEW Revolution
Fans began to notice that something was up, when Top Flight wasn’t in the Tag Team Battle Royale at AEW Revolution, a match won by Rey Fenix & PAC of Death Triangle. At this time, it was reported that Darius Martin had suffered a leg injury, but the severity wasn’t known.
Now, as per Martin himself on Twitter, we know what’s going on. “”Had ACL surgery this morning…. First time having surgery and this anesthesia has been hitting my body like a MFer all day. Nonetheless, the road to recovery begins. It’ll be long but when I’m back, expect me to be performing at a level you’ve NEVER seen before.”
Dante Martin Is Keeping Busy On AEW Dark
Both of the Martin brothers have an insane amount of raw athletic potential, with many comparing them to a young version of other duos of high flying brothers in The Young Bucks or Team Extreme. It will be a long road to recovery, and Dante Martin has kept busy getting into singles matches on Dark & Dark Elevation, as well as some six and eight man tag team matches.
He will not be shelved alongside his brother, even having gotten a three match win streak over in singles. Jack Evans, Baron Black, and Fuego Del Sol all having fallen to Dante Martin. We can only hope that Darius is able to come back better than ever, and Dante is able to build up his body of work in the meantime.
