After a week break in the UFC, the action resumes this weekend with a middleweight match-up between Marvin Vettori and Kevin Holland. The fight will serve as the main event for the UFC Fight Night Card at the UFC Apex.
There are also some engaging fights on the undercard, with Arnold Allen’s clash with Sodiq Yusuff being the co-main event on an engaging card. Kyle Daukaus and Aliaskhab Khizriev will meet in the middleweight division also on the main card, which promises to be a huge test for Khizriev and his perfect 13-0 record.
UFC News: Vettori Looking For Fifth Straight Win
It will be a huge night for Marvin Vettori this weekend, as he will be looking to win a fifth straight fight. The Italian’s last defeat in the octagon came back in April 2018, as he was beaten by Israel Adesanya by split decision. That was the fourth defeat of his professional career, with all losses coming by way of decision. Vettori is a proven submission specialist, as he has ended nine fights using a hold during his career to this point.
The most recent submission victory that he picked up came in June last year, as he beat Karl Robinson in the first round of their contest. That excellent showing saw him awarded the Performance of the Night award. He most recent main events the UFC on ESPN card in December, as his tussle with Jack Hermansson was awarded the Fight of the Night. The Italian was once again able to get the job done, as he won by unanimous decision.
UFC News: Holland Looking To Bounce Back
There will be pressure on Kevin Holland coming into this fight, as he will need to bounce back from the defeat that he suffered last time out against Derek Brunson. It will be a fairly quick turnaround for the middleweight, as that previous fight took place on the 20th March.
He was beaten by unanimous decision in the end. That defeat brought an end to his five-fight winning sequence, while included four KO/TKO wins. The most recent of those wins came in the first round against Ronaldo Souza. That victory also saw him tie the record for the most UFC wins in a calendar year. He will be looking to get back to winning ways, in what should be an entertaining contest on Saturday.
