Breezango are looking to recapture their luck from the summer of 2020 when they were NXT Tag Team Champions. A good way to do that is beating a team like Grizzled Young Veterans, who were just short of winning those belts at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver. Breezango were cosplaying as Royal UK Guards much to the delight of Wade Barrett on commentary, but not their opponents who called them an absolute joke, and reminded them that jokes get you nowhere in NXT now.
Breezango Take Early Control Of The Match
After cutting into Breezango on the microphone for their entrance, Grizzled Young Veterans would get into the match with a brawl. Gibson would start with Breeze, but have a hard time keeping hold of the NXT original. Fandango tagged in and would throw Gibson into the corner, but Drake helped him not impact the turnbuckle with his shoulder.
Drake got a tag before being run down with a lariat, Gibson was thrown out of the ring, and Drake would find himself being draped over the top rope with a suplex. He’d be sandwiched with kicks, before stumbling outside. Fandango nailed the dive over the top rope, as we went to a commercial break.
Back from the break, Drake would hit a shoulder tackle to get some space, before coming off the top rope and landing awkward on his left leg. He would take a second to make sure his leg was okay, getting the attention of the referee before Gibson got Fandango with a Greco Roman Eye Poke.
Grizzled Young Veterans Are Next Level Smart
Drake’s knee was suddenly perfectly fine, and he’d set up a flatliner as Gibson hit a dropkick. Fandango was met with Gibson, but was able to fight him off to get a tag. Drake was back in as well, just to get stomped into the corner. Breeze took out Gibson when he got into the ring with an enziguri, before hitting a russian leg sweep on Drake.
Gibson looked to break the pinfall up, and Breeze let the hold go to fight him off. In the two on one flurry, Grizzled Young Veterans completed a tag. Drake would set up Ticket To Mayhem, and Breeze’s lights were out soon after. This was a big win for Grizzled Young Veterans, who take another step to a rematch with MSK.
