Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Results!
Tonight we’re going to have a fun show as the Intercontinental Championship is on the line as well as the Universal Championship in a title vs. Smackdown Career match!
Without further ado, let’s get to the action!
Scattered opening
Bianca Belair started the show off by coming out to the ring. This is a pretty cool change of pace. We’re glad to see them mixing up the start of the show some.
Belair officially welcomed us to Smackdown as the EST of WWE and Smackdown Women’s Champion.
She then started to introduce someone, but was interrupted by Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler as they came out.
Ziggler told her if they’re going to kick off Smackdown they’re going to do it right, and Roode said let the Smackdown Tag Team Champions to take it from there.
The Street Profits came out, interrupting them and Montez Ford asked Angelo Dawkins if they interrupted Belair.
Dawkins said they did and they know what that means.
Bayley then came out before they could get started and she walked past everyone and entered the ring and snatched the mic from Belair.
Bayley pointed at Belair and the Street Profits and started laughing, so Belair clocked her to shut her up, then removed her earrings and challenged Bayley to get up.
Bayley took Belair down and hammered away on her, then the Street Profits and Dirty Dawgs entered and paired off.
Belair flipped Bayley over and beat on her while the Street Profits had their way on Ziggler and Roode as we headed to commercial.
Mixed 6 Person Tag Match – The Dirty Dawgs (Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler) and Bayley vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and Bianca Belair
We returned from commercial and the match was underway with Belair and Bayley in the ring exchanging blows.
Belair locked Bayley up from behind, but Bayley hit some reverse elbows and stomped her foot to get loose, then slipped out of a body slam attempt and hit a clothesline on Belair.
Bayley went for a sliding clothesline and Belair countered it into a rollup pin attempt, and then dropped Bayley with a shoulder block.
Bayley swatted a dropkick aside and went for a pin attempt, then she threw Belair into the ring.
Belair leaped over her charging in and hit with a dropkick.
Ziggler tagged in, so Dawkins came in without a tag since it’s not needed in mixed tag rules so some reason, and he hit Ziggler with a shoulder block and tagged in Ford who hit a dropkick.
They hit a double team face buster, then Dawkins clotheslined Ziggler to the floor. Bayley ran in and Belair threw her to the floor.
For then hit Ziggler and Roode with a suicide dive and threw Ziggler into the ring while Bayley drove Belair into the ring steps.
Ford was worried about Belair and turned into a superkick by Ziggler, and then rolled to the floor.
Ziggler followed and threw him into the ring and tagged Roode in and Ziggler hit a splash in the corner and threw Ford into a spinning spine buster for a pin attempt.
Roode dug into Ford’s eyes in the ropes, and Bayley knocked Ford senseless.
Roode stomped on Ford, then Ziggler came in and they hit a double team suplex for a pin attempt.
Ziggler locked in a sleeper hold while sitting on Ford’s back.
Ford got to his feet when Ziggler slid of him, and Ford flipped Ziggler off.
Belair turns the tide
Ziggler hit a splash in the corner, but Ford hit a superkick to buy time.
Roode and Dawkins tagged in and Dawkins hit a corkscrew elbow, hit Ziggler with a belly to belly suplex, then hit Roode with a corkscrew splash in the corner.
Dawkins then hit a running bulldog and a neckbreaker for a pin attempt but Ziggler broke up the pin.
Belair came in and picked up Ziggler, but dropped him to catch Bayley with a right hand when she ran in.
Belair then hit a KOD and the pair rolled out of the ring.
Dawkins charged Roode in the corner and Roode hit with a double boot, then rolled Dawkins up but Belair broke the pin with a whip of her hair across his back.
Dawkins hit a spinebuster and Ford hit a From the Heavens for the win.
Anyone else notice Ford wasn’t the legal man? Oh well, a pretty good match as the Street Profits are on their way to win the tag belts at Backlash.
Backstage, Kayla Braxton asked Daniel Bryan about his match tonight, and Bryan said it was a simple decision and she should ask Reigns since he put hit title on the line.
He’s excited because he’s always wanted an even match for the Universal Championship, and said his first title defense will be against Cesaro.
Seth Rollins laughed at Bryan thinking he’s going to win and give Cesaro a shot, then said his prediction is simple despite his history with Reigns.
He predicted Bryan to win, but Cesaro won’t make it past next week.
