Over the last few weeks, Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair have been pretty chummy on manipulating things backstage and it’s gotten us to wondering if they’re WWE’s new power couple.
This is purely storyline as they each have their own relationships outside of the WWE, but with the way Deville is going with Flair’s ideas more than not it does pose an interesting dynamic.
It’s reminiscent of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, though no where near as blatant.
In fact, there’s nothing happening currently to give the impression Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair are anything more than friends.
Still, it’s hard to ignore how Deville has been making small power grabs and usurping Adam Pearce on a weekly basis and her decisions tend to favor Flair.
Good teamwork
It’s a pretty cool storyline as it puts WWE’s top talent (Flair) paired with one of their best storytellers in a fun dynamic.
They play off each other wonderfully even if words are exchanged. Their looks back and forth are awesome and tell us they’re up to something every time.
Of course, Flair’s looking for the glory and we expect her to use her connections to get what she wants, but it also brings up the question whether Deville will remain strictly a backstage presence or become more.
To be honest, we think Sonya Deville deserved a lot more of a push than she got and a better storyline than a psychotic stalker to help put Mandy Rose over.
That fact she dealt with a real life stalker a few months after this storyline started was terrifying and we’re happy they’re not having her do that kind of storyline anymore.
Taking over
With that being said, we can see her and Flair teaming up to go for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at some point.
It wouldn’t be the first time a WWE office persona won gold, and we doubt it’ll be the last time. Plus, we’d love to see Deville with some gold.
Until then, she’s going to have to continue taking control from Pearce, and we’re curious how that’s going to play out. She’s already taken away his authority in a lot of ways, so what’s next for her?
Will they bring in a lackey to help, or will Deville continue to outmaneuver Pearce to the point she has full control? We’d fans of the second choice, but what do you think will happen?
