It’s been a while since we’ve gotten to see Chris Jericho enter the ring of New Japan Pro Wrestling. He was last there during his reign as AEW World Champion, when he was able to defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 15. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, he’s been unable to travel overseas, but Jericho isn’t done with NJPW. He even has a list of dream matches he’s waiting for.
The Latest List Of Chris Jericho
During an interview with Mike Beauvais of TSN ahead of his match at Double Or Nothing tonight, Jericho would talk about how he hopes to get back to NJPW.
“There’s a lot of unfinished business for me in New Japan. Jay White is one potential opponent, Minoru Suzuki is another one that would draw big money. Kota Ibushi and Will Ospreay — those four guys I’d love to work with. I’d love to do a ‘Golden Jets’ team — Kenny and Jericho — versus Kazuchika Okada and Ibushi or Tanahashi and Okada or Tanahashi and Ibushi. I think that’s a Tokyo Dome main event right there”
Those are all big potential matches, and while Jericho would have a hard time matching up with someone as quick as Ibushi or Ospreay? Matches against White or Suzuki would suit the slower brawling style of Jericho perfectly. Getting Kenny Omega back to NJPW even in a tag team match would be huge for NJPW, especially if Kota Ibushi is in the ring.
Potentially Claiming The IWGP United States Championship?
Another option for Chris Jericho in NJPW actually rests in AEW with an old rival of his. Jon Moxley is a champion for NJPW, holding the IWGP United States Championship, even defending it against Yuji Nagata on Dynamite. Jericho could need another major hook if The Inner Circle is broken up, and given his working relationship with NJPW?
He could be the one to take the belt from Moxley. We haven’t seen Jericho take on Moxley in over a year, meaning the match would be fairly fresh, especially with high stakes.
