Paul, who has become one of the most polarizing and talked about figures in combat sports, has called out UFC fighters such as Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, as well as taken shots at White over fighter pay, in recent times. He even made an appearance at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, and caused some commotion when he got into a heated exchange with Daniel Cormier.
Though the YouTube star-turned-boxer knocked out ex-UFC welterweight and former Bellator and ONE Championship title holder Ben Askren in a boxing pay-per-view headliner, White doesn’t want any current UFC fighters getting involved with Paul.
Is Dana White willing to work with Logan and Jake Paul?
Brothers Logan and Jake Paul have entered boxing to try to conquer it (at least in terms of popularity). The former lost in his first fight but is now scheduled to face Floyd Mayweather on June 6. The latter has won all three of his fights in the ring, the most recent being against MMA star Ben Askren. Taking all this into account and it looks like the brothers are going to continue to grow, would Dana White work with them?
Dana White will never work with the Paul brothers
In a recent interview with ESPN the UFC president set the record straight on how he feels about this issue:
“First of all, I would never do business with those guys. That’s not what we do. I’m not going to loan them one of our guys, what’s the point, there’s no way that could happen. They’ve got a bunch of fucking idiots out there that they can play whatever those guys are playing with. I’m not their guy.”
Dana White also said he was very surprised with Jake Paul’s win over Ben Askren.
“You can’t deny that the guy has gotten into the conversation with real guys. I don’t know if I buy the Ben Askren thing. I have a hard time believing that happened.”
And at the same time he also believes Jake Paul’s popularity won’t last too long.
“We’ll see how long it takes before this guy’s 15 minutes is up, but they’re being smart.”
