Trent Seven claims to be a “founding father” of NXT UK, and uses that to build up fan support ahead of any major challenge. However, others would argue that they have just as much of a claim to that title, having been around since the first tournament. One of these men is Saxon Huxley, who will look to take Seven down tonight as they meet one on one. Sam Gradwell will be watching closely as well, as he has been eager for a shot at Seven.
Trent Seven Digs Deep Against An Always Improving Saxon Huxley
Huxley went for a kick to start, but Seven dodged before being shoved into the corner. A clean break let Huxley show that his Bruiser Brody obsession isn’t just a look as he nailed some stiff strikes on Seven before sending him off the ropes for a hard knee to midsection. Huxley would catch Seven in a crossbody, before Seven fought Huxley down and nailed a scoop slam into a leg drop for a two count.
Seven wanted a very early Seven Star Lariat, but Huxley fought his way free and hit a jumping knee strike to the face. Huxley followed up with a Thesz Press followed by an elbow drop. A body crash in the corner put Seven down for a running hip attack, and Seven was getting overwhelmed. Huxley went outside and hit a big boot to the face of Seven. He’d slam Seven onto the floor, and hit a Cactus Elbow off the apron as he yelled “There goes Saxon Huxley!”
Seven was sent back into the ring, but was able to kick out at two. He’d battle back with some chops, before taking a strike to the throat. Seven was able to counter a charge in the corner with a DDT, and Gradwell appeared on the screen to mouth off to Seven about how he can’t get the job done. Instantly fired up, Seven looked for the lariat but was dropped with a spinebuster for a two count. Seven dodged a big boot and hit a German Suplex, before winning out with the Seven Star Lariat.
Saxon Huxley is slowly putting all the tools together to be a solid part of the roster, which Trent Seven absolutely already is. Huxley had a lot of slow control, and Seven was able to pick up the pace at the end as he put Huxley away in a painfully average match. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
