Just one night after Mercedes Martinez got knocked out and taken to the hospital on WWE NXT, AEW Dynamite got a bite from the injury bug as well. During the tag team match which saw AEW World Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D & Rebel defeat Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero, not everyone would make it out okay. Rebel had to be carried to the back, after suffering a leg injury during the match.
Rebel Injures Her Leg While Breaking Up A Pinfall
About midway through this match, Rebel would jolt into the ring to break up a pinfall following a diving knee strike to the back of the champion’s head. She’d slide into the pin, and somewhere along the way something went wrong. Rebel would immediately tell Nyla Rose that something was wrong, and without missing a beat, Rose would get Rebel out of the ring and into the hands of the ringside doctors.
Following the match, which was won by Baker who applied her signature Lockjaw submission on Vickie Guerrero, before being powerbombed through a table; Rebel would be taken to the back with the help of the doctors. Her condition remains unclear at this time, and fans are wishing her all the best.
A Crucial Part Of Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D’s Character On AEW Dynamite
While there is never a good time for an injury, this is especially poor timing for Rebel. She’s been crucial to the heel character of Britt Baker, always being in the champions corner and ready to hand her a glove for Lockjaw, or smack people with a crutch when she was selling a fake leg injury.
With AEW going back on the road, it would be very hard to keep Rebel on the shows. When AEW was locked down in Jacksonville, it was easier to keep someone injured in the mix, but the last thing you need when hurt is to be travelling from state to state on a weekly basis.
Here’s hoping that Rebel isn’t seriously hurt, and is able to make a quick and speedy recovery. Do you consider her to be a crucial part of Britt Baker’s character? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
